Hunters House

Lofer offers superb winter skiing and in summer it transforms into a picture postcard white water village where you can learn to kayak or even book an exciting raft ride on the roaring Saalach. Check out our suggestions of things to do in Lofer on the drop down "Information" button on the menu bar. Our ski chalet has gorgeous views and is surrounded on 3 sides by open fields. Hunters House is the perfect chalet for a large group of friends or family who are looking to rent a chalet for a skiing trip, activity adventure holiday or just a relax and recover holiday.

The ski chalet is located just 35 minutes from Salzburg airport and also just 1 hour 50 minutes from Munich and Linz airports. The ski chalet is self-catering so if you decide you want to eat out then don’t worry. None of the villages 15 restaurants are more than 10 minutes’ walk from the chalet. Lofer town centre is a leisurely 5 minutes’ walk whilst the towns recently modernised 25m euro ski lift is just an 8 minute walk from the door. From here you can catch the lift up to the 46km of pisted slopes in the winter or in summer to the beautiful mountain pastures where you can explore the scenic and waterfall strewn paths up on the Lofer Alm. As from summer 2016 the second cable car will be running which is the very first year that walkers have been given the option to take an easy ride up to the walks and restaurants at the top. The village landscaped outdoor pool, with its large sports pool, fun slide, non-swimmers pool and the icy "stone mountain bath", is just 3 minutes’ walk from the chalet.

Lofer Austria

The ski chalet is centrally located in the village of Lofer in Salzburgerland and a mile from the Tirol border. Zell am See and Kitzhbuel are 30 minutes’ drive and Salzburg airport is just a convenient 35 minute drive away from the chalet. The fantastic Vienna is 3 and half hours by car and also Munich and Linz airports are just 1 hour and 50 minutes. For the more travel hardened holidaymaker Calais Eurotunnel is an 11 - 12 hour drive. We recommend a stopover at either Trier or Mettalac if you are planning to drive from England. The town of Lofer itself lies at just over 626m above sea level. At this altitude you will need to make sure when boiling your eggs in the chalet that you give them another full minute for the perfect soft boiled result!

Lofer lies nestled by the Loferer, the Reither and the Leoganger Steinberge mountains, at the confluence of the major valley routes between Salzburg to the North, Saalfelden and Zell am See to the South and Kitzbuhel and Innsbruck to the West. The surrounding Steinberge mountains, are an accessible range of peaks of around 2500m. Only a short distance away is Austria's highest peak the Grossglockner, at a height of 3797m. In the summer when the toll roads are open you can access the spectacular Grossglockner High Alpine road or take a drive to the fabulous Krimml waterfalls.
